Bird On A Wire is not an official release, and
its sound quality leaves much to be desired. The music sounds rather muffled, as
if played from a simple audio cassette with noise reduction turn on, while it
was recorded without. Why wasn't there an official release? Hans Zimmer
explained in an interview
that releasing music played by a 103-piece orchestra in the U.S. usually is too
expensive.
The music is quite impressive, suspenseful action music, with
the gentle love theme cropping up every now and then. Of
uniform quality, somewhat repetitive, but good. For once we hear a great Zimmer composition
and a huge, real orchestra at the same time (though synthesizer sounds can be
heard, too). If it wasn't for the sound quality! Luckily, there is also Fools
Of Fortune.
