Title The Blue Planet
Rating 8/10
Composer George Fenton

Label, Year BBC Music, 2001

Review

George Fenton's most impressive work. The main theme “The Blue Planet”, in a haunting performance by the BBC Concert Orchestra and The Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford, is nothing short of excellent. Luckily, it recurs in “Blue Whale” (partially) and in “Emperors”, but without the choir.

Both orchestral and synthesized are part of this album. “Thimble Jelly Fish”, for example, is a relaxed, laid-back non-orchestral piece (which fading out in a rather uninspired way, BTW).
