Review

A re-release of Laputa: Castle In The Sky, played by a full orchestra (no electronics). The magnificent main theme is heard in “A Meeting”. It's practically the same arrangement as in the original soundtrack (that means rather short, unfortunately), but it's played considerably slower and softer. The bass line known from the original, which I would have liked pounding, is barely audible any more (cf. 2:55-3:14). So the enhanced overall sound seems to be compromised by a lack of dramatic performance, also noticeable in “The Great Legend” and “The Castle of Time”. I find this sad, although the music is still superb, of course.

So, given the choice between the two, I recommend getting the original instead, unless you prefer orchestra-only scores.
