Review
Probably the most brilliant score from the TV
series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Ron Jones really added a new musical dimension
to STTNG scoring for this ingenious and suspenseful encounter
of the Enterprise crew with the Borg race. Jones gets the most out of his small
orchestra (and occasionally his synthesizers) and must be driving the musicians
crazy with his rhythmically and harmonically challenging sequences such as
in “First Attack”. Aside from formidable action cues, Jones has composed
mysterious music that adds a lot to the suspenseful story. There are even some
very beautiful moments at the end (“Picard's Nightmare”).
This album comes recommended.
